Jack and Rose Whitlock began the company in 1969 selling wood products, joined later by their son Ted. After building a reputation of quality products and friendly service, the Whitlocks looked to move their business, needing a location with easy access and indoor rail service.

In 1998, Plywood Company of Fort Worth opened its new 70,000SF headquarters/warehouse facility to better distribute plywood and wood related products to its customers across North Texas.
